Incorporated in 1976 as Indian Railway Construction Company Limited, IRCON International Limited is a premier Navratna CPSE (under the Ministry of Railways) specializing in turnkey infrastructure projects. Originally focused on railway construction, it has diversified since 1985 into highways, tunnels, and metro systems, completing over 400 projects globally and in India.

• 1976: Incorporated on April 28, 1976, in New Delhi to leverage Indian Railways' expertise for developing nations and domestic projects.
• 1980s-90s: Expanded aggressively into international markets, notably completing major railway projects in Iraq and Malaysia, and diversified into non-railway infrastructure.
• 1995: The name was officially changed to IRCON International Limited.
• 2000s: Became the first construction PSU to get ISO-9001:2008 Certification. Ranked among the top international contractors.
