Royal Rajasthan on Wheels

The Royal Rajasthan on Wheels was a luxury tourist train, operated by Indian Railways and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), that ceased operations in March 2017. Its carriages and route are now incorporated into the Palace on Wheels circuit. It offered a 7-night/8-day journey through Rajasthan, including destinations like Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Agra.

Key Details About the Previous Service:

  • Launch & Operation: Launched in January 2009, it was modeled after the Palace on Wheels to provide a similar royal experience.
  • Route: The itinerary generally covered Delhi, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambore), Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, and Agra.
  • Amenities: It featured lavishly designed cabins, specialized dining cars, and spa services.
  • Status: The service was discontinued, and the coaches were moved to the Palace on Wheels circuit.

For current luxury train travel in Rajasthan, passengers now travel on the Palace on Wheels, which remains India's premier heritage luxury train.
