An Introduction of infosys Founders

Infosys was founded in 1981 in Pune, India, by seven engineers—N.R. Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, Kris Gopalakrishnan, S.D. Shibulal, K. Dinesh, N.S. Raghavan, and Ashok Arora—with just US$250 borrowed from their spouses. Led by Murthy, they built a global IT giant focusing on ethics and software services, becoming the first Indian company listed on NASDAQ in 1999.

Legacy

  • The founders shifted from active management over the years, with Vishal Sikka becoming the first external CEO in 2014.
  • Narayana Murthy retired in 2006 but returned briefly to guide the company again.
  • They established the Infosys Foundation, led by Sudha Murthy, to focus on social responsibility.
