EVA Air

Founded in 1989 by Dr. Chang Yung-fa, chairman of the Evergreen Group, EVA Air was launched as Taiwan's first private international airline to complement its sister company, Evergreen Marine shipping. Starting operations on July 1, 1991, with a focus on safety and luxury, the Taipei-based carrier quickly grew, notably pioneering Premium Economy class in 1992. Today, it is a 5-star Skytrax airline known for its high-quality business class and membership in the Star Alliance.

  • Establishment (1989): Founded in March 1989 following Taiwan’s decision to liberalize its air transport sector.
  • Launch Operations (1991): Commenced operations on July 1, 1991, with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, initially flying to Bangkok, Seoul, Jakarta, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur.
